About Discovery Bay Golf Course
Fall colors on number 8 green
Local rules:
Roads along #6 and #9 are out of bounds. On the back the forested edges are played as a lateral hazard
Front Nine
The front nine (refered to as the farm nine) is the original 9 holes of Chevy Chase. Carved out of a farm pasture the "farm nine" opened on May 9, 1925.
If it's been awhile since you've played here we have made some changes to the front 9. Recent changes to the front includes lengthening #1 with a new green (open spring 2008). New tee boxes on number 4 (open fall 2007) which now plays as a par 5 . And new green's on number 6 and 8 (open 2003). Work in Progress is a new #2 green.
Back Nine
Looking towards the number 18 green
The back nine (referred to as the forest nine) built out of the heavily forested hill above the front nine . The back nine opened on May 9, 1997, 72 years after the front nine. The design of the back nine was done by Michael Asmundson.
Again if it has been some time since you played Discovery Bay Golf club, changes await you on the back nine. New tee boxes on #11 (open spring 2008) not only lengthens the hole but adds a whole new feel by creating a dog leg right. Projects under way for the back is a complete new number eleven.
